Many doctors prescribe the pill to regulate or ease painful periods. How to tell your mom is easy. Just tell her you want to go on the pill because you have pain with your periods. Make sure that's the real reason, and not because you want to have sex and not get pregnant. That's probably what she will think. However, I've gotten a lot of questions like yours, where young girls are having painful and long periods. I'm sure she wouldn't want you to go through all that misery every month, so confide in her and ask her advice. She may even suggest the pill herself. Good luck.

I heard that the pill sometimes doesn't even get rid of the cramps. I'm on depo provera and it has stopped my period all together. It's better than the pill too becuase you only take it once every 3 months. Have you ever taken Advil? When i had a period i took an advil as soon as it would start and my pain would go away. I found that advil was the only thing that helped (besides depo provera that made my periods stop) Tell your mom that you only want to take birth control becuase you need it to help with your periods and tell her that it's not because your having sex. I'm sure she'll understand. If you don't have a mom that will understand then go to a clinic. They have confidential free birth control clinics out there. Your mom would never have to know.
