Why are most of this country's politician's seem to be attorneys?

It is much easier to make laws if you know about law.

Attorneys must study the law and learn to extend or limit the law based upon the public policy that was the reason for the law in the first place. As such, politicians who were lawyers have experience in articulating public policy, and can understand the effects of law in society. Also, most lawyers are trained most of their lives to be persuasive, and that helps to convince people to vote . . .

Haha, well I am not sure, I am a current Political Science major leaving for law school in the fall and want to be a political. I think that it is an unspoken passage considering most politicians tract record. Think about it, if you were Carol Mosely Braun embezzling money wouldn't you want to be a lawyer so you know legally what you are up against?
Its very clique, however, feasible. Lawyers are taught to spin and manipulate and that's precisely what politicians do. So while in law school you gain more knowledge about control and getting your way than anyone who went into business.

I guess it is to be expected law makers / lawyers.

There was an interesting point brought up years ago, although I don't know what ever came of it. At issue was this: All licensed attorneys are considered officers of the court. Therefore, does that mean that they are in fact actively members of the Judicial Branch of the government and as such precluded from also acting as members of the legislative branch?

It is an interesting situation.

They pretty much all are... why? I don't really know. I guess it is because you have to be able to interpret our laws, which for some unknown reason are written in such a way that the normal person can not understand them.. This is stupid I think!
