In China, we wait only 5-10 minutes at a supermarket, but in a bank, it takes much longer, usually 20--30 min. Why banks are so different ? In the US, hong long do you wait at a supermarket and hong long at a bank ?

no more than 10 minutes. But I usually go to the ATM. Supermarket lines can have you waiting for a long time. Depending on what store and how stupid the cashier or the customers in front of you are. I'm a smart grocery store cashier though :)

I can remember waiting 20 minutes or more at a bank about 20 years ago. I think ATM machines and banks having more people available at busy times is the reason this time has decreased so much. I never wait more than 5 minutes for banking and usually no more than 10 minutes for groceries.
