I found the LCD to be 24
2x * 24 = 48
4x * 24 = 96
15 * 24 = 360?
48 - 360 = -312
96 - 360 = -264
x = 360/360 = 1
X = -216/ 360 = 1.64
x = 2.67

2x/3 + 4x/8 = 15
24*2x/3 + 24*4x/8 = 24*15
8*2x + 3*4x = 360
16x + 12x = 360
28x = 360
x = 360/28 = 4*90/(4*7) = 90/7

2x/3 + 4x/8 = 15 No. 1st simplify fractions where possible
2x/3+x/2=15 now LCD=6
4x/6+3x/6=15 combine like terms
7x/6=15 multiply both sides by 6
7x=90 divide both sides by 7
x=90/7=12.857=12 6/7

I would first simplify: 2x/3 + x/2 = 15.

Now we have a LCD of 6. Therefore we add the fractions to get 4x/6 + 3x/6 = 15.

Multiply both sides by 6 to get 7x=90.
x=12.857.

If you plug back into the original we get 15.
