Measure from one quadrant of the circle straight across the center to the other quadrant. This is the diameter.
If you want to know the circumference (distance around the circle), the formula is PI times the Diameter.

If you know the diameter then you also know the radius. Remember the radius is from the mid point of the circle to the perimeter of the circle and the diameter like a cross section. So take the diameter and divide it by two so in your case 2.2/2=1.1 Now take what you already know and complete the equation.

The area of a circle is given by the equations A= pi*r^2 which is the same as A = pi*diameter^2/4. So if your diameter is, say 10 inches, r, or the radius is d/2 or 5 inches. And the area would be 3.1416*(5)^2 = 25*3.1416 or 78.54 square inches

Diameter = 2 * Radius.
Thus the radius of this circle is 1.1 inches.
Thus A = pi * r^2.
1.21pi inches squared is the area or 3.801 inches squared.

If you know that area = radius squared x pi, then you need to know how to get the radius from the diameter.
Diameter is the distance from side to side, passing through the center.
Radius is the distance from the center to the side.
In case that doesn't make it immediately obvious to you, the radius is half the diameter.
Good luck. :)

A=ÏR²
r=d/2
So you would have:
A=Ï1.1²
A=3.8 inches squared.
