I had considered becoming a GRADS teacher in Ohio. For those of you who do not know what GRADS is, it is a program in the schools for teens who are pregnant, young mothers, and fathers. The teacher helps guide the teenager with information and support. They also try to keep the kids from having more babies at that age. Anyway, since it's not a typical teaching role, like math or english, I just wondered what the degree would be. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

GRADS is the acronym for the Graduation, Reality, and Dual-Role Skills program. It is offered in many states besides Ohio.

In order to become a GRADS teacher, one must earn a Bachelor's degree in Family Studies, Family and Consumer Sciences, or even in Social Work, and also qualify for teacher certification in the State of Ohio. Many Ohio universities offer programs that specifically guide students toward this goal

Family and Consumer Sciences certification is necessary to become a GRADS teacher. There is a special exam to take in order to earn certification. Again, the universities mentioned below prepare students for this exam.

I am sure that other universities in Ohio (and across the country) offer majors in their schools of Education that lead to degrees in Family Studies or Family and Consumer Sciences, but I've provided links to some of the strongest programs below.

Best wishes to you!

I would think you would need a degree in social services of some sort and psychology..You have to learn to understand people befor you can really help them. There are tools you need beside life experiences that you will get with a degree. As to which level of degree you choose thats up to you. Bachelors, masters or phd..Every one gives you more money.

Child Psychology
Devolopmental Processes
Sociology
any of these would work, with a teachers certificate.
