Marquette, on paper, is probably more deserving of a higher seed but right now they are struggling on the floor. They only finished tied for fifth in the Big East and the Big East only got 6 teams in. That being said, yes they beat UofL but they beat UofL at the beginning of the Big East season and then lost to them. They went on a 3 game losing streak in the middle of February, although UofL won at the buzzer. Dominic James isnt shooting the ball well right now and McNeal is hurt and might not play. If Marquette was placed higher, with arguably their second best player injured, they will be susceptible to being upset. They might not say this but injuries heading into the tournament come into play with seeding (remember cincy and how they lost kenyon martin, got the 1 seed and lost anyway?) Every since then, the NCAA is reluctant to place someone at a high seed who has an injured star. Also Marquette couldn't be higher than Notre Dame and UofL who finished ahead of them...meaning an 8seed is what they got. I think Marquette is dangerous from that seed (watch out UNC)

They are good, and got screwed, but I think the committee felt 6 was a lot of Big East teams, and had to stick it to someone. Syracuse got the worse end of the stick. But Louisville getting a 6 seed floored me--and Pitt being so high meant for me that Marquette would be a 6 or so.
I think the committee looked at the fact that they lost in the second round of the Big East tourney; the fact that their second best player, Jerel McNeal is all but out; and that their best player, Dominic James, tends to disappear for games at a time. If they can play defense against the mentor's team, they will win, but they cannot get by the Tarheels.

Wisconsin have been given hosed. They gained their journey, besides because of the fact the same old season identify. Duke did neither, and won the trouble-free favoritism because of the fact of their historic previous. The Badgers will possibly make it a minimum of to the Elite 8, on a similar time as the Blue Devils will possibly get eradicated via a risky WVU team.

I don't think they got jobbed. Here's why...
They were 5th in the Big east
6 Major conferences so say they are one of the top 30 (6X5)
They didn't make major noise in the Big East Tour to bump them up.
So as an 8th seed, that puts them at worst at #32 in the field.
That's about right.

The people at the NCAA just refuse to acknowledge that a school in Milwaukee--without a football team--can play basketball.
Good Luck....

Don't count on the student getting past the teacher yet. Tom Crean was an assistant under Tom Izzo at Michigan State; the old master may have a few tricks up his sleeve for his former disciple.
