If the width= x
the length= 2x+6

2(3x+6)=78
6x+12=78
6x=78-12
6x=66
x=66/6
x=11

Then the width is x which is equal to 11
and the length is 2(11)+6= 22+6= 28

and now check your answer 2(11+28)=2(39)= 78
so it is the right answer
hope this answered your question

perimeter of rectangle : 2 * (length + width)

let
x : width in inched
2x + 6 : length in inches

2 * ( x + 2x + 6) = 78
2 * (3x + 6) = 78
6x + 12 = 78
6x = 66
x = 11 ; width is 11 inches
2x + 6 = 2 * 11 + 6 = 22 + 6 = 28 ; length is 28 inches

To help u do this yourself im going to show you how to do it
Because the length is 2 times +6 more than the width we call the length 2w+6 and the width w. Because there is 2 lengths and widths you say

(2w+6)+w+(2w+6)+w=78

So that Equals

6w+12=78
6w+12-12=78-12
6w=66
6w/6=66/6

therefore,

w=11

The length is 2 times w +6 so
The width is 11 and the length is 28

length = 2w & 6
PERIMETER = 2 lengths & 2 widths
Perimeter = 2(2w &6) & 2w
Perimeter = 4w &12 &2w
Perimeter = 6w & 12
78 = 6w &12
78 - 12 = 6w
66 = 6w
11 = 1w
length = 2 x 11 + 6 (28)
perimeter = 28 + 28 + 11 + 11 = 78

let x=width
let 2x+6=length

2x + 2(2x+6)=78
2x+4x+12=78
6x=66
x=11

2*11=6=28

let x=width
let 2x+6=length

2x + 2(2x+6)=78
2x+4x+12=78
6x=66
x=11

2(11)=6=28

do your friends own homework doesnt make sense :)

w=width
l=length
2l+2w=78
l-6=2w

solve the second for l
l=2w+6
put that in the other equasion for l
2(2w+6)+2w=78
4w+12+2w=78
6w=78-12
6w=66
w=11
l=2(11)+6
l=22+6
l=28
