He probably does not have an appetite because his tummy feels sick.
You can give him tylenol for the fever and to help soothe him. You can ask your pediatrician about the appropriate dose.
The most important thing is to make sure he gets enough fluids. Even if you have to do it a sip or two at a time. Babies can dehydrate quickly. If you notice that he is urinating less, or are worried that you cannot get him to drink enough, he needs to be seen by a doctor.
His appetite will return when he feels better. You will get through this!

Okay, there are three things here you really need to consider:
1) How is baby's urine output? ie. Is he wetting the same number of diapers within a 24 hour period (should be at least 6 moderately wet diapers). Is his urine clear? Or is it becoming yellow? If his urine becomes yellow or starts to have that slight ammonia smell, it could be because he is getting dehydrated.
2) Anytime a child under the age of 5 months (according to my pediatrician) has a fever higher than 100.4 degrees, the child needs to be seen by a doctor. Period.
3) And (again, according to my pediatrician) If his diarrhea has persisted for more than 24 hours, it is time to see a doctor.
Remember: baby veins are very small and the more dehydrated a baby gets, the harder it is for a nurse to get an IV started.
If it were my baby, I would probably go in an have him checked out... particularly if he continues to run a fever.

He just barely has a fever. (Usually defined at 100.4)
I know it's cause for concern, but he likely just has a virus and there's nothing the pediatrician can do for him that you can't do at home. And you definitely don't need the ER unless he starts exhibiting symptoms of dehydration.
He's not eating because his tummy is upset. But you need to keep offering liquids. Lots of kids won't drink Pedialyte; mine won't. Have you tried the stuff? It's vile. So ask your pediatrician for alternatives (i.e. can you offer watered-down Gatorade for a day or two instead?).
A few sips at a time is OK as long as he has LOTS of chances to get those few sips.

call the pediatrician again and ask about the tylenol infants' formula for the fever. keep trying the pedialyte. if it is only a few sips at a time, try again in a minute or 2 and try alternating the pedialyte and the formula- he needs the nutrition from that...also try feeding him "naturally" (breast feeding) there is more nutrition this way than the formula. if he doesn't respond to the infant tylenol, take him to the hospital....
don't forget to try to calm yourself down a bit.....breathe and relax.....when you get a chance have a mug of tea. ask your husband to help you out.....or ask your mom for help

keep trying the pedialyte maybe get a different flavor of it. if the fever gets to 101 see the doctor. if this has been going for 3 or more days i'd go see the doctor. he might be getting dehydrated and thats why he is sleeping so much and that can make him weak. i hope your baby gets to feeling better.

definite.. it very achievable to be teething soo early. My son have been given enamel at 5 months, and boy grew to become into he cranky and irritable. Distract him with teething toys, and permit him to gum your finger. to confirm.. take him in to the ped wellbeing care provider to verify. He might have an ear an infection and don't even know it. on occasion.. the only symptom is a fever. Ear an infection can get risky in the event that they go undiagnosed, may bring about many issues later on. sturdy success!

My son like that yesterday, didnt want to eat, all he did was sleep and want to be held and had a little fever, he is 2 months old. I gave him some baby tylenol, and just let him sleep. you cant tell if your baby is getting dehydrated by the soft spot on the top of his head, if it is sunkin in he needs fuilds. He may just have a little bug, just watch and make sure he is hydrated.

You are his mother and know him best, be his advocate should he not get better. Hopefully, in a couple of days the fever/diarrhea will pass. Keep an eye out for anything that is not normal and be persistent that the doctors figure it out if he is not better.

check to see if you can give him children's motrin for the fever, it seems to knock it out much sooner than tylenol. The sleeping is helping him to get better and as long as he is taking some sips that is a good thing. continue to follow up with your doctor.

Have you heard of plan B for breastfeeding?
It involves letting the baby suck on your finger while you feed them fluid with a syringe or spoon. If he's really refusing the liquid, you might try using this method. Obtain a syringe (or baby medicine dropper) and gently place your finger in his mouth, pad side to the roof of his mouth. Place the syringe just inside the corner of his mouth, and when he suckles your finger, let a little of the liquid into his mouth.
If he's dehydrated, it's imperative that he gets the fluids replaced. Good luck!
