Hello! I have searched all over the Internet trying to find information on how to save a recording on a microcassette to a computer. All the information I have seen is with regards to standard cassette players with two audio out jacks. I have a microcassette recorder with only the one headphone jack. Can someone please explain to me what type of cable I need / the setup? When I tried connecting a monoaural cable (1 - 1), no sound was transmitted to the computer.

You don't say whether the output is mono or stereo?
You will need to find a converter cable to go from your player to a stereo 1/4" jack to connect to the Audio In on your PC sound card.
Instructions available (obviously for standard deck but the principles are exactly the same) at:

Hmmm, that's odd because I was able to use a stereo mini-jack to mini-jack cable to transfer sound files to my computer. (The stero jack has two black bands on the metal part of the plug). I went from the headphone out of the cassette player to the line-in jack on my sound card. You might also have to check your "Sounds and Audio Devices" settings in Windows (assuming that's what you're using) to make sure the input is set to the sound card. If you plugged the cable in to the mic input, you may not have heard sound if you muted the input. If you give a few more details, we can keep trying to troubleshoot.
