A lot depends on what China does

I don't think even the top analysts can be sure what will happen to the US superpower status. Right now, I would be most worried of the Chinese who are still communist, fascists and are using capitalism and cheap labor to produce goods and services at low prices, dumping this on the world market and using this money to build their military. This is being done by the Chinese very effectively without very much publicity. China wants to be an overwhelming force in the world and a superpower. India is another country that could easily become a superpower because of huge educational and technological advances. Russia is flexing its muscles as well and is helping to arm other countries against the US. They are a small but formidable mini super power due to nuclear and technological advances. Its a dangerous world and I would definitely keep one eye on the Chinese.

People seem to want to relate the olden days where kingdoms were overthown, civilizations whiped out, when they fail to realize that is not the current state of the world.

Its not perfect, but there is oversight.
Look what happened when IRAQ invaded Kuwait.
the world took notice.

Eventually this IRAQ travesty, or political blunder bush has set forth will come to pass, but no one is being overthrown.
Dictators yes, but not the countries.

so stop with this nonsense.

If anything there might just be an addition or additions to the 5 great powers.
But none are going to be overthrown, eliminated or conquered

Superpowers aren't what they used to be! If the USA is such a "superpower" why can't it win the war in Iraq?

The dinosaurs had their day, the Greeks and the Romans had their time in the sun, the great Empire Builders (France, England) had their days and America had its time as king of the castle too. ---All things must past. --- USA; soon to be a has-been,too rich and fat for it's own good.

It was nice knowing you and thanks for the Rock and Roll!

Probably. Until we get overthrown by our own week kneed politicians that want to let murderers and rapists walk free and terrorize us. Remember Rome? It fell because the people got soft. We Americans are too soft. We have forgotten what freedom truly is. But there is hope. Our military is formidable. Who ever controls the military controls the world.

It will be as it always has been for the last 100 years. China, Russia, USA, Germany, Japan, England, and many others. We are just the "police" of the world.

I have a suspicion that the U.S. will slowly wane in power. As India and China become increasingly more industrial and become larger players in the world markets, the U.S. economy, if nothing else, may fall.

There is no way, with things going the way that they are. Look at the automotive industry if you want a shining example of America's failures. My vote is on China...

yes. our land space and level of development will allow us to stay ahead of the rest of the modern world. China, some argue has a chance to contest, but its not really true we are way far ahead of them and their enivornment is degrading rapidly because their infrastructure is outdated and they are still investing on that out dated infrastructure.
