First off, I listen to hip-hop and rap. It's very unnecessary of what lyrics direct to women. I can't knock anyone's taste for it, nor against it. I don't like to refer it as calling out their names (i.e females), because women are born with the name their parent(s)' gave. (e.g. Natasha, Valentina, Sandy etc.)

The rappers who bring that up only to make sales, aren't true to themselves. However, those who mean it. Well I can't blame those that are in dismay, with the industry. Sounds like a catch 22. But there is a difference between hip hop, and gangsta rap.

Hip hop is suppose to make it more fun to dance to. Although, there are some lyrics that'll be offensive.
Gangsta rap, however; explains their life on the streets, and the mentallity of what they've known is expressed graphically.

To make some irony out of this. A song put out in the circuit by Nelly, 50 Cent, or Snoop Dogg for example. There are some women who like listening to this, and purchase thier albums/songs. I was a club DJ for years. In the nightclubs, I can't deny playing that song, because it has bad lyrics or derogatory comments. I'll have to played it, because it is a hot demand. And the majority of the request are women, because their patronge is what keeps the clubs going.

As far as commercial and satellite radio, they have to go by popular demand. The same goes for tv stations that play their videos. A market like that normally caters to women. Even songs with derogatory comments, and it is requested by women ages 18 - 40. The industry is like the porn industry, too much money involved. The steps that can be taken would be censorship, but you can't censor everything, because everyone has different taste.

If you have someone that takes these lyrics by heart. Then that person's a** won't last thru sundown. Some lyrics have a meaning to someone. But you can't emulate the actions from those lyrics. Unfortunately, there is wisdom and stupidity. Ignorance can be forgiven, because there's a chance to learn. Stupidity is another story, because you have the knowledge, and make the choices of treating women that way.
