My Girlfriend will be having an operation soon (Hernia) where she won't be able to walk for awhile. How is she going to get pain medication (or any medication) filled at the pharmacy if she obviously can't drive there (or walk) to get it?

How do we do this?

See if the hospital you're going to has an out-patient pharmacy, and have it filled there.
Also, call the pharmacy and explain. If she gives permission for you to pick it up, it'll probably be okay. Just make sure you have her insurance card.

Usually if you are in the hospital and you need a perscription your doctor will call the pharmacy and tell them you need a perscription and by the time you are finished signing papers and are released you should get the medicine in between the papers and being released while at the hospital still.

It's not a problem. The Dr ( or nurse) should call the prescription in to the pharmacy for you, and you just pick it up. Pharmacists understand that sometimes you are too sick to go get your own medicine!
( bring ID just in case they ask )

It is possible that he will give her the prescription before the surgery and she can go ahead and have it filled.
