I presume she has taken you through the scales, and listened to the range in which your voice is strongest - this is how she knows you are a soprano. If you want to extend your range to lower notes it's just a matter of lots of practice and careful breathing work to get the strength behind them. Good luck!

It's easy if you can sing notes that are higher on the scale then your a soprano. On the other side of thing, if you can't hit the high notes but sail through the lower ones then you an alto. As for extending your rang just practice taking your voice to the bottom of your current rage try to go lower and lower every time until your happy with where you are.

Singers are the one type of musician that needs a teacher all the time. The greats keep a voice coach throughout most of their career--Pavarotti in his prime had a voice teacher. The top rock vocalists, when first signed by a label, are assigned a voice coach. Yes, there are exercises that you can do to expand your range. But you need a teacher to make sure you're doing them properly. Any mistake on your part could create vocal damage, and that must be avoided. Now, for sight reading--there are books out there on ear training and sight singing. First-year music majors in college take those courses and spend a lot of time listening to a tuning fork and trying to sing their way through new melodies. Self-study with some of those books will get you started; it's a long, slow process, so be patient with yourself.

She probably heard you sing and noticed that you hit high notes more easily than the lower ones. To extend your range, practice with your teacher as often as you can. Try singing just a half a step lower each time until you get it.

She knew by listening to your voice. The voice has its range and there is not a whole lot you can do to sing lower than the natural range of your voice

soprano -with an o!
She has listened to your range.
It is easier to extend your range up than down
However you could probably get 2 or 3 notes lower if you took lessons with a qualified singing tutor.
