Actually, they are 2 different meanings.

* I would change the first sentence to the subjunctive.

If I were in the honors program, I would have the opportunity to work with excellent students and professors at an early level, and having this experience before I advance in college would be very beneficial to my future. ("For my future" fits better.)

This means that if I were lucky enough to get in, I know that the experience will help my career.

If I were in the honors program, I would have the opportunity to work with excellent students and professors at an early level, and having this experience before I advance in college would be very beneficial in my future.

This isn't as good; it means that if I have the experience, at some point, at some future time, the experience will be of benefit. It pushes the benefit farther away into some distant space.

First, I suggest that you change the opening of your statement to 'If I were in the honors program...' The way you have it now is incorrect.

Are you already in college? If not, replace 'in' with 'to'.

To answer your original question, I believe 'to' would be correct.

Good luck!!

"To".

It would not be beneficial in your future. It is beneficial NOW for you future. Not in it.
