I need help with these algebra Q's - I dont really get it... =[[?

>> The difference of three times a number and 23 is 34. find the number. write an equation and solve it.


>> The sum of a number and 27 is 40. find the number. write an equation and solve it.


>> -13 Is the difference of a number multiplied by 5 & 8. find the number write an equation and solve it.

>> A traffic sign has the shape of an equalateral triangle. the perimeter of the sign is 225 centimeters. find the length of the signs of the sign. (an equilateral triangle is one whose sides have the same length)

1. Equation: 3x + -23=34 Steps: add 23 to each side, 34+23=57, divide 57 by 3 which gives you 19 (((Answer: 19)))

2. Equation: x + 27= 40 Steps: add negative 27 to each side, 40 + -27 = 13 (((Answer: 13)))

3. Equation: 8x - 5x= -13 Steps: add 8x and -5x together which gives you 3x, divide negative 13 by 3 which gives you negative 4 and 1/3 (((Answer: -4 and 1/3)))

4. divide 225 by 3 which gives you 75, ((( Answer: 75 cm)))
