For this years stats: Anything like ESPN or Yahoo! Sports is fine.

For historic Stats:

Good site for info on past players

A little less complete player wise than the almanac, but it is a bit more thorough in that it keeps a players minor league stats as well (and in some cases, even college stats). You can literally track a player from A ball to the majors here.
