If you are referring to the consumer products that receive the atomic signal from Colorado, they receive the signal automatically. Some may only be receptive in the early morning hours.

If you are inquiring about the genuine lab instrument, you'll have to refer to the owners manual. There are too many variations for me to guess.

Well you take out the battery and put it back in. if that does not work go buy a new one.
