your question is pretty vague....depends on what part of tennis you're asking. Federer is pretty famous because of his game and currently breaking records setting his on along the way. But Agassi, popularity wise, command a lot of attention in and out of the court. On the women side, it's the same story. Kournikova commands a lot of attention outside of tennis courts but she's nothing when it comes to the game...she's never one a tournament for one thing...the rest of the girls are just famoun inside the court.

If you are looking at just fame, I would say Maria Sharapova is the most famous. She has appeared in more commercials than players like Federer and she is also an accomplished player. As far as sources she has appeared in a feature article in Sports Illustrated which you could look up on their website.

Althea Gibson --
+First African-American to win at the Grand Slam
She has more sources/books than other tennis players, such as Andre Agassi, Maria Sharapova. She is deceased, and have records of her life. Tennis players living today are young, and don't have much about them.
I am reading the book, "Born to Win" for my English class.
Its a biography about her.
Good Luck!

Billie Jean King vs. Bobby Riggs was the most watched tennis match in history. Arthur Ashe may be the most well-known world-wide. Jimmy Conners is probably the most admired. Bjorn Borg was the 'heart-throb' of his time. Check out "pioneers" of the game - like Maureen Connoly and Bill Tilden (21 grand slams)

well, the most famous now is Roger Federer, because now more and more people have got access to tv and newspapers, so the world can hardly escape from his news. Andre Agassi is also very famous, but is he more famous, i don't think so.
I would define famous as celebrated, widely known and esteemed.

Definitely Andre Agassi, all u have to do is look him up on google or yahoo or something.
He not only changed tennis with his clothing colors and his long hair, he also changed his hometown, Las Vegas. He made an entire school for less fortunate teens and younger people where he used to live in Vegas.(For more info, go to google)
He's an awesome guy.
