I am specifically interested in measures 9 - 22. I know measures 1 - through the first beat of 9 is a sentence. After that, I am not sure if it is some kind of sentence with a distorted continuation AND THEN comes the transition, or if the transition starts at measure 16 with the restatement of the basic idea! I am very confused, and I need to better understand this piece to discuss it! Thank you for any input or ideas you may have!

Measures 9-22 I actually view the whole thing as a transition. Because you can't really repeat the first theme. The structure of an exposition in a sonata is (intro) theme I - trans. - theme II....The transition is taking material from the first theme, but I wouldn't call it a complete restatement. At measure 13 there is already a pivot chord leading into the new key. It's just a long transition.
