Considering i wont grow much more than an inch, am i a good size for womens college hockey?

I want to play when im older. Im 5'9 and about 145 pounds.

Size is not as much of a prerequisite in the women's game. It is a non-contact sport and some of the best players in the history of women's hockey are shorter than you are.

Focus primarily on your skating and also put in time for conditioning and strength development. A well conditioned athlete who can fly will have little trouble finding a roster spot on a women's college squad. If you can add to that a strong shot and/or a finishing touch, you're looking at national level competition.

your size is perfect, no matter how tall or short you happen to be. from what you said, there isn't going to be any height disadvantage for you to overcome. my girlfriend plays hockey at one of the top Division 1 NCAA programs in the country. Her team will be in the final four at Lake Placid next weekend. She's 5'7" and her teammates range from a 5'2" inch Olympic gold medalist to a 6'0" Olympic bronze medalist. More important than height is how much work you put in right now. these women spent hours everyday working on everything from strength, to conditioning, to stick handling since before they were even in high school. i know many of the girls went threw olympic development programs and junior teams, so if you can get involved in those it'll really help your chances. and don't worry if you high school team isn't that great. if you work hard you'll still get noticed by college coaches.
