I dream he's being arrested for drunk driving. I've had it at least 6 times in the past 2 weeks, and it's been getting progressively more detailed and gruesome. Last night we were driving along and he hit a kid on a bike. I saw the kid's brown hair and face smash against the windshield in front of me. In my dream I just felt numb but terrified, guilty and helpless because this kid had just been killed by my husband. The police came and arrested my husband because of it. I don't even want to go to sleep tonight because of it, LOL.
What the heck do you think this is about?!

Also, he doesn't drink and drive, not even after one beer. That's why it's so confusing to me. Perhaps I just feel like some other things pertaining to him are out of control?

To dream of your husband talks about the relationship you have with him. Your husband's drunk driving could be talking about the 'out of control' relationship you may have with each other. It could be that perhaps your husband's trying to dominate you?

Your husband hitting a child riding a bicycle represents his dominance (or whatever bond you have) attacking your 'fallen hopes' and 'hitting' your need of leisure.

Seeing police in your dream means that you feel you have failed to perform something. Being arrested can either represent feelings of guilt or issues of control.

Whatever the dream means, good luck with it. It sounds tough.

I assume that you're not actually worried about your husband getting drunk, driving and hitting a kid. If you are then duh, that is waht the dream means. That said, I would interpret your dream as follows: Your husband represents someone/something important to you that you care deeply about. The drunk driving seems like something you know is reckless and that you feel like you have some control over but that you aren't using that or don't feel that you can use that control. And the child sounds like it represents something that you know is precious but since it isn't a child you know, I would guess that it represents something that is not intensly personal. Also the police are sort of icons of outside right and wrong and societal judgement. Anyway hope this helps. I think dreams are usually allegorical and you just have to figure out what the different icons in them mean to you. Since I don't know you I probably didn't do a great job but maybe the method will provide some insight for you.

If he's a drinker, I'd imagine that you're concerned that this could be an actuality rather than just a dream.
Have you shared this with him and voiced your real concern that something as awful as this could someday become a reality?
Don't let him drive while he's been drinking. Since these dreams are coming to you, you may have to take the car keys until he's willing to go for help in quitting the drink. Become his designated driver if it'll make you feel better, but don't allow him to drive drunk. The dream could be an omen of things to come. Consider it a warning.
IMHO

Is it that your husband drinks more than you would consider acceptable? That could be the reason for a dream like this.

Remember, though, that some dreams don't mean anything--they just happen in dreamland, and nothing similar happens in real life.

I had one dream years ago that one parent died--and two weeks later, it was the other parent who died. So sometimes dreams are like premonitions, but not of exactly what the dream tells you.

If you keep having this dream, maybe you should call your doctor, and get a check-up--let him/her know what's going on with you. Maybe you're just not getting enough sleep--or eating right, etc. Those things can also account for strange dreams. :)

I am a trained Psychiatrist.

From what you describe, I have a pretty good idea that what you are suffering from is Schizophrenia and possibly Bipolar II.

You have a chemical imbalance that needs to be corrected. You have elevated seratonin and dopamine levels. That is what is making you act this way.

You need to see a psychiatrist immediatly. Ask him to put you on Respiridone and Lithium.
Once you are properly diagnosed you need to inform the motor vehicle branch and let them know that you are potentialy a dangerous driver because of a mental illness.

Trust me... I have been doing this for 25 years. I know schizophrenia when I see schizophrenia and I am sorry to say.... you have it!

You may need to spend a few weeks in a mental hospital. You will get the proper medications there.
Once you are treated, you will find that your life will improve
