I assume you are asking if she can receive benefits on your record as a dependent. Simply having custody does not entitle her on your benefits. If her parents are disabled or deceased, she can get benefits on their record.

To be eligible on your record, you would have to adopt her legally. Certain other conditions must also be met. Contact Social Security at 1-800-772-1213 for more information.

PS: Social Security is not welfare. If you are working, you are contributing to Social Security, and your benefits are directly based on what you have paid in. It is an entitlement program.

Yes. I had custody of my half-brother for 4 years after his mother died and he received ss benefits. I actually had to show legal guardianship paperwork but they don't ask for income or anything. It is just documentation. The bottomline is he was due it, so he got it...

Apply for social security benefits of a dependent directly under your custody because there is a need which the purpose for which welfare was invented.

My guess is that you are asking if you have custody of gc can the mum recieve benfits, the answer should be no. Unless she is ripping off welfare she shouldn't get any benfits at all you should be getting it.

she should be able to. If she or one of her parents are disabled or deceased. I also have a child who is recieving SSDI on her dads record because she has never worked.
She is getting adult disabled child benefits.

Well, Medicaid & State Aid if she qualifies................but SS only if the parents are deceased or disabled
