Poor but happy. You can't be content with life if you're always wanting more and more. I'm not poor just now, but I don't go for the best of things in life as I make do with what I have.

I would choose poverty with happiness, although if i relly had to choose, i would like to not have to worry about finances. Being fantastically wealthy is not a specific need.
