Ok my boyfriend and I are planning a trip to Alaska in a month to visit a friend. We live in California. The thing is there might be a warrant out for him and I was wondering if they check into that stuff at the airport?
What happend is 2 years ago he got his first DUI and couldn't pay all of his $1,000+ fine. He still owes the court money.
Do you think there would be a warrant out for him for this?
How could we find out if there is one?
And if there is a warrant out for him will that make him unable to fly?
Thanks!

unless it was a federal case which it isnt it shouldnt be too hard to get plane tickets, i still got unpaid fines from 2003 they never said anything to me till just last year, i owed 900, they said they would put a warrant out for me if i didnt pay it, i went in and paid only 200 of it, and havent heard back since, but ive been in contact with police since then and know for sure i dont have a warrant, it takes the system a long time to get around to late fines, i live in a small town and thats still true, so i imagine if you live in a large rlace, it would take even longer

Yes they certainly do check that stuff, but less so on domestic flights. Still, having a warrant out is really bad and he should really just settle it. If you are going to alaska then you can certainly afford to pay a fine to lift a warrant. No matter what he will get it one day because of this.

Many wanted criminals do flee places and for this reason air carriers can see if the person is wanted. So be smart, can your trip and tell him to take care of his obligations. It will never go away.

To knowingly leave a jurisdiction when an Active Arrest Warrant has been issue is interpreted by Law as "fleeing from arrest/apprehension and "yes" when you buy tickets that's ONE of the reasons you MUST provide a Photo ID, Data Base sweeps ever heard of them at Check - In?

How can you afford to fly to Alaska if you cant take care of past obligations due to the thoughtless actions of your boyfriend? I for one hope they check and put him behind bars until he pays his debt. Also his drivers license is more than likely revoked and I am sure that will be a problem for him at the airport.

No, you're completely covered. They don't run wants and warrants checks, they just check the no fly list to see if he's a terrorist.

However, in two years he "couldn't" come up with $1000 to clear this up, yet he can afford to fly to Alaska?

Interesting guy you're dating there.

Fly maybe, picked up on his return, most likely

It depends on the warrant if if they are willing to pay to have him brought to thier court from where he is at.

He should have paid that a long time ago and got it over with. Now it'll cost him more than that to get out of trouble. It'll catch up with him, sooner or later. I don't think they check on that......but I'm sure sooner or later it'll flag him....don't think that technology is in place yet. I'm sure you'll be able to go back and forth with no problems. As long as he doesn't have any problems with the law during the trip.....then it'll spoil it for both of you. Best of luck to the both of you.

he should be o.k. but i would make arrangements with the courts to make payments after your trip to take care of the matter. most warrants for minor things stay active for only 6 months.

If he has the money to take a vacation to Alaska then he needs to settle up the state of California.

I would say contact the Clerk of Courts where he owes money and see what the status is.
