What's the perfect size for a thumbnail, in your opinion, given that the thumbnail is a photograph and that there's no scrolling on the page ?

Well, I'm just beginning to learn how to make a websites and I decided to stick with html for now, 'coz CSS would just confuse everything for me. I'm thinking about the regular screnn size of a stationary computer for now. I was just thinking if there was, you know, the size that would look just perfect...

Well what are your design specs for the width and height of the page holding the thumbnail?

Remember that users which will view your page probably have different screen sizes. If you really want to get fancy you could size the image using CSS so that it scales depending on the users settings.

Your question really goes alot deeper than you think. What doesn't scroll at 1024x768 certainly will scroll at 800x600.

So what screen size are you designing for, that along with how many thumbnails you need to display, will determine what size they need to be.
