I actually start from the middle and work outwards, then fill in the side closest to my nose. Follow the lash line, it's your guide. Also, if you can't hold your hand steady, lean with your elbow on the counter, that's what I need to do sometimes.
Try liquid on top, and a lighter shade of pencil for the bottom. :)

For botto, pull yur lower lid down and make a thin clear line across the inside of your lid above your lashes. Dont apply more than needed because it can get chunky and uneven. And for the top, close one eye and apply it as close to your lashes as possible

You just need to find the right tool or applicator. I like a brush but a lot of girls like the marker style. MAC Fluidline is a really good one, practically goof-proof.

close the eye your working on, put your finger to the corner, pull and stretch the eyelid a bit so it is a smooth, taught line and sweep the brush along the edge as close to the lash as you can.
