Intelligence is a property of mind that encompasses many related mental abilities, such as the capacities to reason, plan, solve problems, think abstractly, comprehend ideas and language, and learn. Although intelligence is sometimes viewed quite broadly, psychologists typically regard the trait as distinct from creativity, personality, character, or wisdom.

Intelligence, is the ability to reason, though that is to simplistic a definition it is inherently different for each person, for example, Bill Gates might be a computer Genius, but can he paint a picture like Van Goth, or hunt with the skill of an Amazon native indian, there are many examples, I don't believe an IQ test is a good measure of intellect for they can be learned, and learning is just remembering something, I go along with the psychologist view, that intelligence is a trait all by itself which cannot really be defined.

Well, I think the psychologists should go have their heads examined. Intelligence distinct from wisdom? I don't think so.

It is true however that intelligence has not yet been definitively proven as being a good trait for survival. The dinosaurs existed for tens of millions of years, and they had little bitty pea-brains. Humans are still working on their first million years and intelligent minds like Stephen Hawking are asking how can mankind survive the next HUNDRED years.

Yes, you're basically right about that.

Intellectual is completely different. Many confuse intelligence with an intellectual. Only a tiny percentage of the population is an intellectual -- the highest form of logical thinking (not some chick who wears glasses and a business suit to appear "smart").

Yes, that happens with all words. Everybody has their own concept of what a word means, and usually that concept changes too.

I used to think of intelligent being a very positive thing, but it really depends. If it just means that someone is always in their head, then I think they're idiots. If it means that they're really great at arguing, the same.
