Anyone else love him? I know he was a crappy actor, but i love old westerns and i love his movies!!!

I agree with kevin K....that was such a different role for him and i fell in love with the movie! I would love to see what kind of movies he would have made today with all the special effects we have now.

The Duke was a hell of an actor, but he wasn't really given a chance to shine outside of westerns or war movies. For that reason, "The Quiet Man" will remain my favorite film of his. Simply because it is such a different role for him.

I would not say John Wayne was a crappy actor, he made the Westerns come alive, we will never find another man to fill his shoes or saddle like he did, He was a wonderful actor, did you know that on his tombstone he made them put,
"Feo, Fuerte y Formal" which means " he was ugly, strong, and had dignity" But all in all, he was one of a kind, One of his favorte quotes was "Don't ever apologize --- it's a sign of weakness...
