Okay, I have two tanks (I am not telling you the size of them for my own protection. The fish in them ARE in healthy conditions. I just don't feel like someone getting mad at me just because they think I need a bigger tank or whatever.) Anyway, in one tank are two male Betta's (separated of course) and in the other four Gourami's that I can't figure out the gender of. (all the dorsal fins look the same....). But anyway, I am getting a 20 gallon tank and this is what I WANT in it:

One of my Betta's.....
One or Two Paradise Fish.....
All my Gourami's ....
A School of Fancy Guppys....
A Couple Platies .....

Now I know this is an unrealistic tank. Not only is it most likely overstocking the tank, but, I'm pretty sure they aren't compatible (although one of my Betta's is rather calm).

Now, keeping my 'dream' tank in mind, what is a more 'realistic' 20 gallon tank?

Forget to say that the gourami's are all dwarfs. Three of them are red/orange and the other powder blue.

Oh, and I don't mind about any fish 'multiplying'. It'll just be a good excuse for getting another tank. Hehe.

Hummm... Keep the betta, they are just too cool. I wouldn't use the paradise fish as they will most likely fight with either bettas or gourami. As for the gourami, it depends on what kind they are, smaller dwarfs may be ok, but if they are all male blues for example they too would fight. Maybe you could ink a few pictures of the gourami? That would help alot. Perhaps a shop would trade you so that you would have a male and a female of one type of gourami, much sfer for your tank. The group of guppies will be fine...for a while. Remember they will breed on you and over crowd the tank if you don't remove some all along. I would replace the platys with a nice fun bottom fish like a small school of cory cats. Maybe about 3-4 of them. That would leave you room for a few more fish probably, depending on the gouramis, and well balanced with some top, middle and bottom fishes.

The bettas and gourami's CAN NOT go together. This is because they are in the same family and WILL attack each other. I made the mistake of "they look like they're getting along" and when i woke up in the morning my betta had no fins left! I had to seperate him for two weeks in beta fix, and bring the gourami back.

I ran 3 tanks at once. My 240L had most of those fish, mostly guppies (which I breed in the other 2 tanks). They are compatible. Although your guppies will not swim in a school. The gouramis will love the freedom!

Doesn't sound like you are interested in a realistic answer.

For your own protection, I'm not giving any answer.
