Most people who vote do so in an attempt to elect a candidate who will advance their personal agenda, usually about one or two specific issues.
I wish more people would take the time to actually figure out which candidates would make rational and intelligent decisions, and who would be an ethical leader.
But I guess wisdom is too much too hope for in a country where 40% elect a president, but 65% choose who sings well.

Voter apathy is a logical response to the political class. No matter what a politician says, we can be sure that we will have lots of symbolic change and fine speeches, but not much substance.
In 1994, hordes of people voted Republican hoping for a smaller, less intrusive government. Well, you know the result. Before that the Democrats had 40 years to enact the same things they are carping about today.
I usually vote Libertarian, not as a protest vote, but because their principles are more aligned with mine. Even if it is unlikely that my candidate will win, my voice is still heard.

I agree with you but regardless of any election our constitutional rights are secured and our freedoms are secured because it's the U.S. Constitution. We should vote because it's our duty to choose the best leader that has integrity and decisiveness in peace or war. Intelligence can add to choosing a candidate with the ability to communicate effective diplomacy, which allows insurance of rights. Like the military draft idea, it's better to have soldiers that volunteer to serve, morals are higher. Citizens refuse to vote due to discrimination at the polls and the errors of the voting machines, http://www.voteprimous.com

We vote to elect a representative who will act according to our wishes.
We should vote to ensure our voice is heard.
If we don't vote then we can not make any changes to remove a corrupt person or government and to have a representative of our liking

We (should) vote because it's our duty as American citizens.& that right has been maintained by the sacrifices of our military throughout this nations history. Those who choose not to vote attempt to bring dishonor to these men & women. Vote for what's RIGHT for the country - NOT because it just happens to reflect what is popular.

We vote because we can.
We should vote so that we don't end up with idiots in charge like we have now in the white house.
I always vote if possible, even if Dog Catcher is the only seat up for election.

Stalin was once quoted saying that its not who you vote for but WHO counts the votes which really matters. Elections are now rigged. I hate to say it.

We vote because we care. We should vote because we care. We don't vote because we don't have enough sense to care.
