Most of the poor are poor because they dropped out of school. They perceive the Dems as the party most likely to give them the freebies so guess who they vote for. Funny thing is they are usually worse off because of them. when is the last time a Dem had the unemployment rate as low as it is now?

Your hypothesis doesn't account for many variables. Case point; the Democratic party is the party of the middle and working class. It is also the party that embraces more groups than the Republican party.
In addition; many wealthy individuals as well as family are proud Democrats (Kennedy Family, wealthy Hollywood directors, actors, and producers). These individuals are educated and many have degrees to back up their educations.
However; what's interesting about your hypothesis; is that you conclude intelligent with being a member of the GOP. How intelligent would an individual conclude themselves to be; by being lied to and betrayed with the chaos and mismanagement of the last seven years with the Federal Government.
Finally, I'm neither Republican or Democrat; nor for that matter a Liberal or Conservative. Yet I find it puzzling that no matter what side you stand on; failure to heed the voices of the people, shows just how corrupted and out of touch our political system has evolved.

"In most cases, if you are poor, you are under-educated?" OR DISABLED.
The Democratic Party cares for ALL American disabled, retired, elderly and poor... including those that vote for the repub Party... that is exactly what it says to anyone with some degree of common sense and intelligence.
Education has nothing to do with it. Some very "educated" individuals are in the White House and they are purposefully mismanaging and squandering billions by funneling these funds to Dubya's and Cheney's cronies... they are not stupid... they KNOW what they're doing... deliberately, systematically, calculatedly, and by design bankrupting this nation to further burden and enslave the working class to pay back the National Debt that runs into the trillions, thanks to Dubya, Cheney and the super rich and powerful, the puppet masters who receive tax breaks and tax incentives to outsource AMERICAN jobs overseas to foreign countries!

Despite what many Republicans believe, the world is not a meritocracy. I have a college degree and hundreds of hours of technical training beyond that. But I make only $14,000 a year.
Why? I was in the tel-com industry when that fell apart. My company laid of literally tens of thousands. And I am over 50 years old. I have applied for over 600 jobs but this is all that I could get. The world does not necessarily reward education, competence and hard work.

Your hypothesis does not support your conclusion. There are many reasons why people are poor besides lack of education. Please do more research on the subject.
