Let's review the matter at hand. Judging the best point guard is not strictly based on talen and statistics. We must also include the intangibles of the game such as heart, tenacity, vision, and leadership. so let's start rating them, shall we?
#1-Earvin "Magic" Johnson/ He not only had great talent, he also had probably the best heart. He never gave up on a play and took the game seriously until the final buzzer drew.
#2-John Stockton/ He is the best pure point guard in NBA history. He had a great vision of the court and would consider every option that he had. Another strong point for him is that he currently leads the league in all-time assists AND steals.
#3-Bob Cousy/ He is one of the most vital instruments in the Celtics dynasty in the 50's and the 60's, when they won 14 championships. He most likely revolutionized the point guard position.
#4-Isiah Thomas/ He helped the Detroit Pistons win 2 NBA titles in a row. He was a great point guard who could score and was the primary player of a great team. Like Johnson, he was a showman, both he and Magic brought crowds on their feet.
#5-Oscar Robertson did not really spend much time as a point guard. He was technically a shooting guard. In the times that he was a point guard, he scored, dished, and rebounded, making him a great all-around player.
There you have it. The men listed above are among the NBA immortals regardless of position.

1. Magic Johnson - NBA's Icon for Point Guards.
2. Oscar Robertson - if he's playing today, he'll be Jason Kidd (triple-double) + Gilbert Arenas (scoring)
3. Isiah Thomas - 2 Rings. The Baby Face Assassin.
4. Bob Cousy - The Houdini of the Hardwood
5. Jason Kidd - Mr. Triple-Double... and counting. solid defense.
Honorable Mention:
John Stockton - The Best Pure Point Guard (pass first, pass second then shoot third)
Tiny Archibald - anybody to lead the NBA in scoring & assist again?
Steve Nash - back-to-back MVP. The Best Shooter (not scorer) in the list.
Walt Frazier - quarterback of the Most Unselfish Team in NBA History. 7-time Defensive First team.
