Take it from me...I injured my knee 30 years ago and know a lot about the joint.

The knee joint is a very complex joint, with a lot going on. Go and see an orthopedic surgeon. They should be able to get to the bottom of your problem.

I recommend that you give your knee a rest or you won't have to worry about running, you will barely be able to walk after a while.

Ice it every opportunity you have and take Ibuprofen for the inflammation and swelling. Take them every 4 hours. It will help.

Get a hinged knee brace (they are about 60 dollars) although walmart may have it less expensive. It has hinges to support your knee and take your weight off of the joint. Velcro wraps on the thigh above the knee and on the calf just below the knee.

You can wear this when you are not running to rest the joint.
My left knee was very bad and this improved mine very quickly.

By the way when you are older you will probably get arthritis in the knees from the running. The pain you have now will not compare to what you will feel when you are older.

Good Luck.
