I like to try my British accent out and my New York/ New Jersey accent out. SOmetimes when I'm bored I'll talk in a British accent for days on end. (My natural accent is a southern accent, North Carolina coastal plains if that tells you anything) and thing I just try to talk in a "normal"(for lack of a better word) accent where I talk with no particular accent. How bout you?

Oh I don't do it all the time, I'm aspiring to be an acteress so I'm sharpening some of my skills. My friends find it funny but have noticed an improvment when I do it.

My other accents include, Carribean(I'm actually really good at that one), Cali(I've been told that I should be a valley ), Austrailian, Hispanic(I'm good at rolling my R's), I can make it sound like I've never left NC in my life(VERY deep southern draw). Just to name a few more.

I was born in Tennesee, that's where my family is from, but moved out west as a child. I picked up a western accent, but I can go back to my southern accent when the whim takes me.

I do have a teenage daughter who likes to talk in a British accent like you are describing. I think it's great. It's fun to see the people's faces. She's pretty good.

Keep marching to the beat of your own drum.
You sound like a fun person.

Yes! Thats so weird I do! Usually I talk in a very heavy french accent, because french was my first language, but when I am around guys I like, I sometimes try to talk in a bit of a British accent, without meaning to! Its so weird!

That's great!

I don't mean to, but often when I talk to someone with an accent I "pick it up" and start talking like them.

I'm from Northern California - we are considered to be the "Standard" American English - so I always talk with no accent (except when I talk to "all ya all" then I sound funny!)

Oh - you need to find someone from New York/New Jersey to teach you to say "forget-about-it" like they do - it's GREAT and I think an actress should have this skill!!!

Yeah, when I first entered middle school I had this British/country flare in my accent, and it was totally fake! Everybody thought it was real, though, so I played along with it and then worked myself into a mess. If I talked normally, they'd think that I was faking that accent! It was awful, and some still think I'm faking, but I'm back to talking normal. It just shows that you especially need to be yourself. <3

If you are from Coastal NC then I bet your British accent is tinged with a little southern drawl.....lol.......can't imagine a southern having a NY,NJ or British accent......but to answer your question no I have never gotten that urge.

Thats really funny, even b4 you said that you were an aspring actress I could tell either you want to be an actress, or a voice over (for cartoons). Do I personally do this, no Im afraid I dont have the acting skills, but trust me Ive been tempted.

Well, I will say that when I visited New Orleans many years ago, I came back saying "Y'all" instead of "you" all of the time. And I still say " Y'all" to this very day. So it really is not an accent, just a slang word I guess.
