Im 18 years old. Male. 120 lbs. 5'3 because my parents are short. Body Physeec is slim or average.

Currently in weight-training and run 4 miles a week.

Does your body need cholesterol and/or fat?
Do you burn cholesterol and fat when excercising?

fat is one of the main food sources in addition to proteins and carbohydrates.

It is not just as energy source, it is the source of your essential fatty acids. Different sources of fat and oil contains different kinds of essential fatty acids (search for essential fatty acids for more knowledge), for example, pork fat, contains arachnoid fatty acid, which is good for your integument system (skins).

So, fat is your friend if not excessive. Cholesterol is a life giving compound our body synthesis daily from our nutrition intake. It is the building block of many of our hormones (testosterone, cortisone, estrogen etc).

Especially cortisone, you can not live without your endogenous supply of cortisone, which is made from your cholesterol, regardless its sources (endogenous or exogenous).

People always got scared by the damaging effect of cholesterol. Truth of the matter is, you need a real understanding on the subject, because it has two important sides, both important and you need to know all of it.

So your answer is yes, you need both cholesterol and fat (prefer polyunsaturated vegetable oils).

Eating food contains large amount of cholesterol is not always bad, it depends on your age, state of health (meaning whether your system will use it or accumulate it).

The body does need fat and cholesterol, but the individual should try to eat low amounts of fat and cholesterol, especially if they are overweight or have high cholesterol levels. You can definitely burn fat while exercising; but I think cholesterol lowering is a more complicated process than that.

The body doesn't convert saturated or trans fat into LDL cholesterol. LDL stands for low density lipoprotein. It is like a transport vehicle, it takes triglycerides (fat) and cholesterol from the liver to the body.

HDL is the good chlolesterol anything over 45 is great
(Mine is 73)
