Schizophrenia is a mental illness. One of the most troubling symptoms is hearing voices telling you to do things or condenming you. They also see patterns of lights that move. Sadly it most often is diagnosed in young people in late teens and early twenties. It is now being recognized in kids as young as 12. It is treatable but the medications seem to have side effects so the patient often doesn't want to take them. Symptoms can be mild as a few halucinations to the voices ordering the patient to kill someone or themselves. My son had a patient who cut his own penis off following the orders of the voices and then when he was back on his meds had to deal with what he had done to himself. ADD is attention defecit disorder and it is not nearly so serious and can easily be controlled by meds. It is an inability to stay focused or concentrate on any thing for very long. Most patients are very intelligent but very nervous. Bi-polar disorder is having mood swings from being very happy and hyper to very depressed and inactive. There is really no medically approved medication but most do well at least on the low end by taking an anti-depressant. Are you asking because you are worried that you have something going on? If you do, you need to remember that mental illness is most often nothing more than a chemical imbalance affecting the brain very similar to diabetes, a chemical imbalance affecting the pancreas. Taking meds to correct this is no different than using Insulin for diabetes. It is just correcting something wrong with your body. Feel free to email me if you need to talk. Good Luck and God Bless

It is a psychological disorder. Basically it is someone who is out of touch with reality.
ADD - Attention Deficit Disorder. This can affect adults too, but it usually starts in early childhood. It's when you have a problem staying focused and paying attention
Bipolar 2 - Bipolar is episodes of mania and depression that revolve in cycles. In Bipolar 2, the cycles are more often.
These are the simplest terms that I could come up with.

put very simply, its where one becomes dissociated from reality. an example would be someone who wraps there head in tinfoil because they believe aliens are trying to read there mind.
ADD is where someone has problems doing things such as concentrating or staying on task, is easily distracted, is impulsive (does whatever s/he wants without thinking of the consequences), and sometimes displays hyperactivity.
bipolar disorder is a personality disorder where one switches between periods of extreme excitement (called mania) and depression.
