im from the UK so I wasnt sure what the US laws were, must have got confused with the legal age to drink. Neways the reason I was curious was becuase of the following article:

In my state the legal age for consent is 19. In some states 18 is the legal age. But from experiences with friends I have found that it is not inforced strongly by the law at the age of 17.

No it is 18, unless they have become emancipated from their parent's prior to their turning 18 which seems many of the young actors do these days. They can't buy cigs until they are 18 and they have to be 21 to drink but they can vote and 18 and considered not longer a "minor" and free of their parent's responsibilities at 18

Age of consent can vary state to state in the US I`ve noticed.
Technically though if the law is enforced he could be sentenced for statutory rape of a minor - technically.However if her parents don`t object ,and she`s happy who are they hurting ?

Eighteen is the legal age in the states not twenty. This is also when you are allowed to legally vote.
