Thanks for the question. I have 60 years of baseball behind me. So I have to give you two answers; my head's too fill of great ballplayers. My favorite of all time is Stan Musial. But maybe the best was Henry Aaron who could do everything. Among those active--I agree with your choice, Albert Pujols.

Ivan Rodriguez.

I'm a catcher so I'm biased a little bit, however he's a career .304 hitter as a catcher. 13 time all-star. Most gold gloves at catcher and tied for 5th all time with 12. And how many catchers can play 16 years while averaging 126 starts a year (only 3 years under 100 starts)?

My favorite player is Craig Biggio of the Houston Astros. Hes gaurenteed an HOF bid if he manages to get his 3000th hit this year (needs only 70 more). I aslo admire his ability to get hit by ptiches which he leads all time. He is also has made the all-star time 7 times in his carear. He has also won the gold glove for second base 4 times. He also won the silver slugger 4 years.

my favorite player and one of my number one heroes is Number 42. Jackie Robinson. he broke down barriers, played in a time where every time he took the field he could feel the hate. but he played through it and went on to be a hall of fame player.

also, lou "iron horse" gehrig. that guy was balls out. people make such a big deal about cal beating his games played in a row record, but the truth is lou never hurt his teams chances at a world series. he played hurt, but never hurt enough to jeopordize his team. they still won and won big. if he never would have gotten sick, there was no way cal ripken (no world series title having call ripken) would have been able to catch up. lou was an iron man.

also, for pure entertainment and the fact he loved the game so so much Mark "the bird" Fidrych. he really only played one year in 1976 where he went 19-9 with 24 complete games. he was amazing. he had fun, talked the ball, patted down the mound with his hands, congratulated teammated mid inning after a great play and he brought more fans to the park than anyother tiger in history. when the bird pitched it was not only a baseball game, but rock concert. fans would pack tiger stadium the max to see him pitch. and the fans wouldn't leave until the bird gave a curtain call after the game, win or lose. he loved baseball and had fun doing it. that's pretty much how his career ended. spring training of 1977 he was out in the outfield goofing around throwing long ball warming up and he decided to hop the low outfield fence to shag an overthrown ball. he twisted his knee badly, but embarrassed he didn't say anything. he continued to pitch putting all of this stress on his knee and that enventually added stress on his elbow because he couldn't follow through properly on his bad knee. he eventually just threw out his elbow and was never able to regain the strength and the magic of the great summer of '76. check out a mark fidrych game, anytime espn classic airs one. truely magical, and even though you might already know the outcome of the game, you won't want to miss an inning mark is on the field.

My favorite baseball player of all time would be Lou Gehrig. Although none of us watched him play during his time, Lou epitomized how the game should be played. No matter what, Lou played. Pulled muscles, sprains, strains, you name it, Lou played with it.....and excelled at the same time. Who else could you think of that would stand in front of his loyal fans and bid farewell before his death. That must have been the hardest break dealt to any athlete in history.
