I don't see why not. All a SIM card does is store your telephone number & carrier data. The only problem is if your new phone is locked to a certain carriers network. Which imho is total bunk, you should be able to use the phone you want w/the service you want. If we were as vocal about this monopoly issue as we were about the ma bell phone stranglehold, we'd all still be renting those ugly old black phones.

So if you want to use a t-mobile sidekick on your cingular plan, swapping the sim will allow that. Again, unless it is locked.

I have swapped many sim's out of one phone into another (including cingular phones) to allow the user to use whatever phone they wanted on their plan. Just swap & go.

I'm sure that some phones & carriers might have an incompatibility, & some carriers do try to lock their phones. But nothing is 100%, so if you need one finding an unlock code shouldn't be difficult.

Here are some links how to unlock your cell phones sim if it does happen to be locked.

FYI - if your phone is ever stolen you can request that your carrier block your sim card from it's network. That way the thief cannot run up your bill.

*Edit*

It is 100% legal to unlock your cell phone due to an exemption passed by the Library of Congress in Nov 2006.
