They're wanting to know if you are dedicated to this job, or will this be just one of two, (or 3), jobs you will have.

If this one is going to be your only job, they know you will probably take it serious, and really try to learn it and do a good job at it.

They also don't have to worry about your schedule. If this is your only job, they know they don't have to work around some other job schedule, or you won't have to miss work because something came up in your other job.

Lastly, if an emergency comes up, and they really need extra people to come in and work, even though they weren't scheduled to work, they have a better chance you could make it in, if you didn't have another job where you may already be scheduled to work.

They are asking if you will be working anywhere else in any way. Will you be seeking other work, maybe part time work? I would just say no, unless you are already working somewhere else and have no intention of leaving.

I am not sure this is a legal question. Try to leave it blank and see if they press you on it. If they press you on it, even if it is not legal for them to ask, you will have to answer or expect not to get the job. That is the way it goes, not fair or right, but is still the way is usually goes.

Are you going to work a second job?

Specifically they are asking because if you work for Pepsi already and are trying to get a job at Coke - it's a conflict of interest.

Secondly, they may ask because if this is a job that may require occasional overtime, you might not be available.

Finally, they might be asking because if you are working two full-time jobs (I've known people who can & do!) often, you are too TIRED to work as well at either of them (Well, I would be anyhow.)

Best of luck!

Some people have more than one job. They want to know if you are planning on having another job as well as working for them, and if that could potentially affect your work that you would be doing for them.
