I have always been puzzled about the old photograph they show at the very end of the movie. It is a picture of Jack Nicholson at a ball in 1921. Does that explain something? Was that the original murderer, and then that guy's spirit possessed both Mr O'Grady (the caretaker that killed his wife and daughters) and Jack...but why would the original murderer look exactly like Jack. I don't get it.

Do your study. have you ever examine Vampire Academy? i bypass to declare not seeming you think of it rather is something like Twilight. As others have suggested the only element they have in simple is they're approximately vampires, in spite of the reality that VA's vampires are completely diverse than the sparkly ones. shall we touch on some bases shall we... considerable character: Rose Hathaway is a robust, kickass character. She's sassy and has super traces (heavily all her traces are gold). And below each and every of the techniques-set she's a being concerned, dependable individual. All she desires to do is take care of her best buddy who's the final in between the royal households from the evil vampires, Strigoi, who choose to kill the Moroi, the best vampires. in spite of the reality that think of roughly that adult men, you would be killing of the best meal you adult men have! Little humor there. She trains dedicatedly to alter right into a mom or father so she would be assigned to guard her best buddy. She's not some weakling. inspite of being long previous for 2 years she's nevertheless the best in her classification. the story: that's not a narrative approximately love or a love triangle. basic that's certainly a narrative approximately friendship. the entire tale revolves around Rose and her best buddy Lissa. How they triumph over each and every of the stumbling blocks of their way. there is love thrown in inspite of the undeniable fact that it's not the main concentration. the story isn't based on it. there's a lot of action, i'm not speaking approximately love action in spite of the reality that there is a few of that. There are combat scenes and assaults that reason a lot of emotional harm for the characters interior the story (and the readers). And until now you desperate to take your next fact to the reality that it rather is called Vampire Academy a super kind of the sequence would not even ensue on the academy. It occurs throughout, Montana, Pennsylvania, Russia, Las Vegas, etc. So even if this sequence is badass we are additionally getting a super kind of holiday time.

Remember when Hallorann the cook told Danny that sometimes places have a shine to them, that they hold traces of something that happened - like a smell left after someone burns toast? I think the photograph is the Overlook "shining". Not necessarily that Jack was there in 1921 to take that photo, but that he WAS a caretaker there who killed and died there.

When Jack died, the evil incorporated his essence into the hotel and it's history, as if he'd always belonged there and would continue to be a part of it. Yeah, I know it's a bit deep

The idea is that the past blends with the present in the hotel, and he blended in far enough to show up in the picture.
