Having a baby takes a lot out of a mother. Not only the delivery alone, but also the lack of sleep taking care of a newborn. There are also hormone imbalances after birth that can wreak havoc on your emotions.
Just accept that she will be moody, and be there for her. Also remind her that she is doing great, I know when I first had my daughter I felt so upset at first because I felt I couldn't do anything right and was so nervous. Once I had my self-confidence as a mother, I felt better.
One thing, if she is still depressed/moody after a few weeks, you may want to (delicately) talk to her or another family member about the possibility of post-partum depression, which is fairly common and could really be dangerous if she doesn't get support. But for the first week or so after birth moodiness is common and understandable.

Within the first two to three days postpartum, such symptoms are known as the "baby blues" or "postpartum blues." The blues affect 60 to 80 percent of postpartum women, who often find themselves exhausted, unable to sleep, or feeling trapped or anxious. Your appetite can change (you might eat more or less), or you might feel irritable, nervous, worried about being a mother, or afraid that being a mother will never feel better than it does during this down period. All these feelings are normal during the first couple of weeks after child birth.

Yes....that is just the aftermath ....it will probably go away in a very short time....she can get very blue or depressed or weepy.....just keep a lot of help around her so she doesn't have to cope all on her own....some women get it worse than others, but its important that she have people there for her.
Having a baby is not easy!

Gee, if you had to get up every 2 hours with a crying hungry baby; wouldn't you be moody, too?? Plus, changing diapers and being totally worn out from giving birth.

Yes. Her hormones is changing from pregnancy mode to just normal breast feeding mode. She could also have signs of the baby blues or depression due to hormonal changes. if that should happen have her talk to a new mother therapist.

yes, it is because she is dealing with raging hormonal changes. Give her awhile to recover. If she stays moody or gets depressed, be aware of post partum symptoms.

When you have a baby your horomones go through a rollacoaster. Just like they did when she first got pregnant. She could also just be tired, you know babies are a lot of work and they take a lot out of you. Remember to support her through this wonderful experience.

It sounds like post partum depression. Have her get to her doctor. This is common and can be helped. She could just be sleep deprived and just plain tired.
