Is it when you do intimate/romantic things with someone other than your bf/gf? Things like: holding hands, kissing, any form of sex, foreplay, having emotions for someone else when you are in a relationship, flirting, being playful-touchy with others who are not your significant other...

*cheating* is defined differently by each person individually. What will you tolerate and what will you not.

If you are asking others how they define cheating, then I shall tell you mine; I would consider it cheating if my significant other was with another woman, which took something (time or money) from me. If he is online chatting, at lunch with a co-worker or out with a group of friends, that is not cheating. If he is with another woman (without permission) after work or at a time in which he should have been with me or the family - then it is cheating. Since we are open with each other, he can be with other women if we have discussed it (but so can I), so it simply would not make sense for him to hide a relationship from me.

Having sex with someone else is of course at the top of my list. But i get extremely jealous when the person i am dating blatantly flirts with someone else in my presence. To me that's just plain disrespectful! But i would dump someone for simply kissing another person or even touching another person sexually. Those are things that i couldn't even do if the person i was with was the person i truly wanted. I mean to do any of those things means to me that you want that person so i will let you go so that you can go be with that person!

Over the years I've changed my definition. It used to be any kind of physicality (beyond a friendly kiss or hug). Now, for me, it's if someone becomes emotionally involved with someone else. Of course, if that relationship becomes physical, that makes it worse.

doesnt it depend upon what you and your bf/gf think cheating is? some couples consider sex outside of the relationship as sport. others define cheating as even thinking about another person. you decide

Flirting is okay. Kissing and beyond is off limits.

If your partner is there and is comfortable with it then its definitely NOT cheating.

If you go behind your partners back then it IS cheating.

I think cheating is sharing anything physically and/or emotionally that you share or should be sharing with your significant other.
