I am taking orthotricyclen lo, and I am trying to change from being a Sunday starter (start a new pack on sunday) to a Wednesday starter. This is to rearrange when my period is for our honeymoon that is 5 months away. I will also contact my doctor, but I'm curious now about this :) Could I just start my next pack of pills on monday, then the next months tuesday, then wednesday the next month? I'm guessing that'd I'd have to have a backup bc for 7 days the beginning of each pack then?

If it were me...when you end your next pack wait until Wednesday to start the new pack. Just remember that you may NOT be 100% protected with the delay.

This should allow you to get your cycle when it is better for you.

Good luck!

Oh and talking to your doctor is a wonderful idea!

Whatever you do, do not take 12 straight weeks of active pills! This will only cause breakthrough bleeding. Having been on ortho lo for over a year, breakthrough bleeding is one of the cons of ortho lo. When you try and reschedule your period by skipping the inactive pills, you will more than likely begin spotting before your next period. For me, this has worked: You have three weeks of active pills and one week of inactive, or sugar, pills. If your period is supposed to be during a week when you would rather not be one it, like your honeymoon--don't blame you girl--then you should skip the THIRD WEEK OF ACTIVE PILLS, which means you will have your period that week. This has worked with me in the past. That way you won't risk having breakthrough bleeding. This means the last pill you should take is the saturday pill from the second active week. Your period should come within three days. You have 5 months, experiment, and see what works best for you and your body. Just be sure to use another form of birth control when skipping pills!!! Hope this helps!

Yes; I had to do this at one point, and starting your pills a day early each month will take care of it. You might also consider talking with your doctor about taking 12 weeks straight of your pills (12 weeks of active pills, and skip the inactive ones), or using a pill like Seasonale that is already packaged this way. You're definitely NOT the first woman to have this question, and I'm completely sure you won't be the last!

I would start the new pack a day (or even two) earlier rather than a day later. Each pill-free day over the seven normal pill-free days increases your chance of pregnancy, so if you only have six pill-free days each time then you are still fully protected and don't have to worry about back-up contraceptives.
