a question about the anatomy of fish?

i am wondering what is/are the specific function(s) of fish scales?

The primary function of scales is to provide protection to the fish from attack or parasite infestation. Different scale types have evolved that can also aid the fish in attacking other fish (for food) or even in swimming. There are also certain fishes with specialized scale functions including poison delivery.

Pretty similar to skin, except for being non-porous.
