no one really cares anymore
only the people who are out to get some attention
and speak out against it...
but deep down... they really dont care

How would they ban it? Throw you in jail if someone says it? I personally hate the word but freedom of speech is the law & I don't think it should be changed. Especially because people will start banning all kinds of words they don't like.

Can words be banned? If so, then yes. The N word is used so frequently in society, that people honestly believe that it is acceptable. Blacks feel they can use it, and are ready to fight any non black when they want to use it. Let us put a stop to it. In schools, the N word accounts for nearly all racially motivated fights, and racial riots. It should definitely be banned, and if anyone uses it at school, they should be suspended or expelled.

It really doesn't matter if they ban it or not because people are still going to use it whether as a racial slur, in the heat of a moment or because of the anger that it incites in others. Putting a ban on such a word, in fact, will only encourage people to use it MORE. Need proof of my point: you only need to look at those who responded to this question before I did.

It would violate the 1st Amendment. And its language that has been taken back by the oppressed race. The 100 times I heard the N word it was spoken by a black comedian. Just like women have taken back the word *****. Its a healthy thing for an oppressed people to do.

Cannot be done.
Under free speech laws, even if something would otherwise qualify as unprotected speech, a law cannot punish one type of hate speech more than any other.
That word is no worse than dozens of others used for various races, genders, or ethic groups. So, legally, you cannot just prohibit one word out of many.
Strange, I'll grant you. But that's the way the laws work.

You can't ban a word dude. It doesn't make sense. Freedom of speech. I think if someone uses it derrogatory people should understand that is te worse thing they can say to a black person. As for blacks, we use it as a term of endearment, no use banning it.

want. It's called the Freedom of Speech!!!!

I'm all for it, but I watched a black comedian yesterday on tv, I think his name was Griffin, & he must have used it a 1000 times? The audience seemed ok with it too. I don't think everyone can quit using it. It kind of shocked me a little. It was on the comedy channel & I think his act was called dysfunctional upbringing or something like that.

From what I've witnessed in the past, you would be taking away a word that is used quite a bit amongst themselves.
