I've never seen any other player strike fear into defender's eyes like Maradona. He'd be on anybodies list for best players of all time.
It's a shame some people think first that drugs cut his career short. It's a shame that others first remember "the hand of god." Most of us recall incredible confidence, pace, and ball control that was a full order of magnitude better than the competition.

Maradona is not a disgrace to football. He was the greatest player of all time.
He did and probably does still have a drug problem, but it was cocaine... not a performance enhancer. In other words, he never did anything to boost his football, but probably did drugs that limited his ability.
If you want to know why he was knocked out of the US world cup it was because he used a ephedrine in it. Do you know what ephedrine is? Its like drinking a redbull and then playing... that was a joke, and a tragedy at the same time.
What he has done off the pitch he has apologized sincerely and begged the public not to watch or emulate. He is very human, and has made very bad mistakes that should never be associated with his football career.
To sum up: Maradona is still the greatest player and idol football has ever had.

Yes, he is. His skill, his talent, his performance, his legacy---all is tarnished by his pathetic and incomprehenisble behavior. While Pele has aged with grace and dignity, Maradona has done so with shame and embarrassment. Sorry, but it's only the truth.

Coke head, nutter, hand of God, but no, bring back the old days when we had some colourful personalities.
And as much as it hurts, hand of God and all, the other goal was worthy of a team beating us. I'm an England fan, but I even supported Napoli when i was a kid because of him and Careca up front.
