why do we need so many enzymes?

Uncountable numbers of enzymes are in one cell.

Enzymes are specific. Each kind of enzyme does a specific job. Different kinds of reactions require different kinds of enzymes.

We need them because there are so many intricate reactions that must work together for just one part of cell function to occur. Plus, a cell will respond to different environmental conditions, activating different sets of enzymes as changes arise.
