In the original movie w/ Jack Nicholson. When Wendy is running up the steps near the end of the movie she sees a man sitting on a bed and someone dressed as a dog kneeling in front of him. What is the meaning of that scene? I have watched this movie many times and never understood this part.

But it is not Jack who is seeing this it is Wendy. Is this a Psychological manifestation of the posetion on the house?

It is a macabre sexual encounter, another horrific visual as the hotel "shines" stronger and stronger near the end of the story. Remember, to paraphrase the cook, Hallorann: "..sometimes places have a shine to them. Traces remain of things that happened there, like the smell of burnt toast".

Its a guy dressed up as bear giving a guest a *******. apparently in the book there was an eccentric person who took guests into hotel rooms and gave them a little somthing extra during a party. its a reference to the book.

it actually explains it in the book better. it is a visual representation of the psychosis that has taken over jack. the book is ten times more terrifying than the movie.

There is no meaning for it.It just shows how Jack is starting to lose it,these are his hallucinations.
